Der europäische Kirschbaum ist in Mittel- und Südeuropa beheimatet. Das Furnier des Holzes ist feinporig, sehr gleichmässig und mit typischem seidenmatten Glanz ausgestattet. Anfangs zart-rosa, erhält das Holz unter Lichteinfluss einen warmen Farbton. Das edle Holz kann problemlos gebeizt, mattiert und poliert werden und gilt im Stilmöbelbau zu den am häufigsten verarbeiteten Hölzern.
